Structural knock-through to remove a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and adjoining room, creating a larger open-plan living space. The works included installation of a steel beam (RSJ) with all structural calculations and Building Control approval. The space was then made good with plastering, ready for the kitchen installation and decoration. The result is a brighter, more open layout that significantly improves flow and usability of the home.
